Gevelscan was the first to start using ultrasonic equipment for finding air tightness problems during early phases of construction in 2012. A new idea arose to develop an ultrasonic camera that would visualize the leaks by mapping the measured sound levels on a picture of the building element. Similar camera's already existed for visualizing sound, but they did not work with ultrasound and were prohibitively expensive.
A first prototype was developed in 2014 and ultimately lead to the development of a commercial product.
